Yehudah Glick of Shalom Jerusalem Foundation discusses Joshua chapter 5 where the Israelites are facing the Amorites, which causes their hearts to sink.
In this chapter, Israel has crossed the Jordan river, but Joshua was not leading them to enter the land. He found himself doing two things, circumcising the people and bringing the Passover offering. From then on, the manna from heaven stopped falling from the heavens.
The chapter continues telling about a man with the sword at the entrance of the land. He asked Joshua to remove one of his shoe, instead of both shoes as with Moshe by the burning bush.
The question now arises, why were these events talked about in this chapter and what are all the connections between them? And what does removing one shoe mean?
Yehudah Glick explains.
