When a young spouse/parentpasses away, it’s never “natural” or expected. It’s forever a traumatic experience. Although the whole family feels the absence, we are reminded of God’s command that the widow and orphans be considered part of the covenantal family. It is we, as the people of God, who must extend to them the same protection that is bestowed on the Levites and the foreigners (Dt 14.29; 16.11, 14).
We at Shalom Jerusalem Foundation, feel a strong connectionto the young widows when we remember the burning of the Temple by the Babylonians. Jerusalem, then referred to as the widow in poignant distress, will call on God and men for comfort (Lam 1.1; 5.3–4).
In honoring her call for help, we can start to uplift Jerusalem – remembering our connection and commitment to the widow, her orphans, and God.
Amitsim is a revolutionary program
based on the Godly call
If you would like to honor your commitment to God, the Shalom Jerusalem Foundation invites you to partner with us and make a monthly recurring donation. With our promise to help support young widows and orphans, and with your help, we can console and bring them back into our family.
By including the widow in our connections with the Lord and his throne in Jerusalem, we preserve their inheritance and serve as God’s emissaries to be their protector.
